The Disability Empowerment Fashion Show: Streetwear Meets Assistive Devices

Connective Strength, a patient-led Ehlers-Danlos education nonprofit, is proud to present The Disability Empowerment Fashion Show—an inclusive runway event celebrating style, visibility, and innovation in everyday living.

Far from a traditional fashion show, this event spotlights the assistive devices as Fashion. Models from the disability community will showcase adaptive designs, mobility aids, and medical devices as part of everyday fashion. From wheelchairs and braces to compression garments and wearable supports, the show proves that accessibility and fashion can be both functional and fearless.

“We believe that self-advocacy isn’t just for the doctor’s office—it extends into how we show up in the world,” said Zoe Jorna-Jackson, Board President of Connective Strength. “This show is about reclaiming visibility, confidence, and grace.”

The event will also highlight the importance of Graceful Advocacy, Connective Strength’s framework for building respect and confidence in all aspects of life. By placing patients at the center and celebrating their lived experiences, the show aligns with the organization’s broader mission of education, awareness, and community empowerment.

The Disability Fashion Show is free and open to the public. VIP access is by invitation only.
